In our home, Thanksgiving is a time for our family to come together and give God thanks for all He has done over the year.
Being a blended family can make Thanksgiving a bit of a challenge. Children can have two sets of families, so having the traditional big Thanksgiving dinner may not be realistic.
In our home, our children get to decide where they want to go each year. Some years, we are all together and some years, we aren’t. We have helped our children realize that giving God thanks is the primary focus of the day. It doesn’t matter which parent they are with.
For us, not placing an emphasis on the traditional idea of everyone being together, makes it a less stressful decision and keeps our kids focused on the many blessings the are thankful for.
